Quail Creek WTP Phase 3

Quail Creek WTP Phase 3

The Quail Creek WTP Phase 3 project will include major electrical upgrades to support the plant expansion and ozone addition. The work will include new switchgear, generators, motor control equipment, variable frequency drives, transformers, panelboards, conduit, cable tray, wiring, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems throughout the facility.

The project will also include modifications to existing electrical equipment so the new systems can work properly with the plant’s current infrastructure. Crews will install new underground and aboveground raceways, electrical boxes, manholes, handholes, conductors, and other supporting electrical equipment needed for the expansion.

Motor control equipment and variable frequency drives will help provide reliable operation and control for equipment throughout the plant. New power distribution equipment will also support the additional electrical loads created by the expansion and ozone systems.

Testing and coordination will be an important part of the Quail Creek WTP Phase 3 project. Electrical equipment will be tested and checked before startup to confirm that the systems are operating correctly and safely.

Because the water treatment plant will remain in operation during construction, the electrical work will need to be carefully coordinated with the existing facility. Shutdowns, equipment changes, and testing will be planned around plant operations to help reduce interruptions while the new electrical systems are installed and brought online.
